The New York State Veterinary Medical Society (NYSVMS) is the professional association representing the more than 3,500 veterinarians registered to practice in New York State.

The NYSVMS promotes the practice of veterinary medicine, animal well-being, and public health, and offers a broad scope of programs and services to keep veterinarians and the public informed about issues, laws and regulations affecting veterinary practice.

New New York State Legislation Impacting Veterinary Medicine

AB 1204 - An act to amend the agriculture and markets law, in relation to restricting the performance of surgical devocalization procedures on dogs and cats

AB 1511 - An act to amend the education law in relation to creating a regents large animal veterinarian loan forgiveness program

SB 2389 - An act to amend the agriculture and markets law in relation to the euthanasia of horses

SB 2570 - An act to amend the general business law, in relation to dogs and cats unfit for purchase due to illness, a congenital malformation or symptoms of a contagious or infectious disease
