6:30 - 7:30 p.m.  ABCDs of Rodenticides

This talk will cover anticoagulant, bromethalin, cholecalciferol, strychnine and zinc phosphide rodenticides.  The different clinical syndromes will be discussed along with the best treatment options.

7:30 - 8:30 p.m.  Household Hazards

This is ‘the good, the bad and the tasty.'  The ‘good’ toxins such as silica gel and birth control pills will be discussed so that the front desk will be able to triage these types of calls.  The ‘bad’ toxins will include products such as ethylene glycol (antifreeze) that can cause serious animal poisonings.  The ‘tasty’ toxins will include commonly ingested human food items such as chocolate and xylitol.  Treatment will be discussed for these toxins if needed.

8:30 - 9:30 p.m.  The Toxicology of Human Medications

This talk will cover commonly ingested human medications ranging from ibuprofen to ADHD and cardiac medications.  Clinical signs and treatments will be discussed.
