PLEASE NOTE: A DVM or equivalent degree is a prerequisite for this session.
For each of the cardiac cases listed below, Aaron C. Wey, DVM, DACVIM (Cardiology) will lecture on proper diagnosis, staging, short term therapeutics and long term management. After each lecture, participants will share their own case experiences to add dimension to the learning experience.
Case 1: Old Dog, New Murmur - Myxomatous Valvular Degeneration. A review of the clinical presentation of patients with myxomaotus valvular degeneration and the associated symptoms, physical exam and diagnostic findings, and treatment options for various stages of disease severity in canine patients with degenerative valve disease.
Case 2: Advanced Myocardial Disease and Heart Failure in the Feline Patient. A review of the pathophysiology of myocardial disease in the cat, with an emphasis on advanced HCM, and a review of the diagnostic findings and treatment options for patients presenting in congestive heart failure.
Case 3: Management of Canine Ventricular Arrhythmias. A review of the clinical presentation of, and drugs available for the management of, ventricular ectopy in dogs.
The session will conclude with a final summary and question/answer period.
