 "Don't Judge a Tooth by its Tartar: Recognizing Oral Conditions"


"Beyond Periodontal Disease"


Approved for 2.0 CE credit hours


By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Recognize common canine and feline malocclusions and understand their significance relative to patient comfort and function;

  • Recognize common dentoalveolar injuries and how they can be managed;

  • Understand that dental extraction is not always an appropriate treatment for malocclusion or dentoalveolar injury in companion animals;

  • Understand the benefits of regional anesthesia in patients being treated for oral and dental conditions under general anesthesia; and

  • Identify the landmarks for placing regional nerve blocks in the oral cavity of dogs and cats.


  • $40 per person for NYSVMS and NYSAVT members (cash or check only).
  • $90 per person for non-NYSVMS and non-NYSAVT members (cash or check only).  Non-member attendance certificates can be obtained from NYSVMS for an additional fee of $50 (check only).
  • No credit cards accepted. Payment must be made at the door; there will be no billing later. 
  • Membership will be verified 1 week prior to the session.  If you are not listed as a member at that time, you will be required to pay the non-member fee unless you bring proof of membership with you.
