Call to Action: Contact Your Legislators in Support of Animal Dentistry Bills
Thanks to the direct efforts of our members, we successfully collaborated with the New York State Farm Bureau to enact new Farm Bureau policy that recognizes dentistry as a part of the veterinary medical profession. Presently, we are supporting legislation in both the Assembly and Senate that would add "dentistry" to the veterinary practice definition.

These bills affect all veterinarians. This is not just an equine dental bill, but a dental bill for all species. We are asking each of you to contact your representatives in the Assembly and Senate and ask them to support our legislation. Your legislator is not likely to ask for an extensive discussion; a personal call or email is easy and quick. Voicemail messages left at their local district office are perfectly acceptable.
We also ask that you urge all your colleagues to contact their lawmakers as well.

Who is my Senator?
Who is my Assembly Member?
We are expecting lay equine dentists to rally the equine communities to contact legislators with opposition to our bill. Your voice counts and is essential to our success in getting this important legislation passed.
If you decide to send a letter or an email, please forward a copy to the NYSVMS office. Copies of emails can be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org. NYSVMS staff will provide copies of all correspondence to the NYSVMS lobbyist who can, in turn, show them as support documentation to other key decision-makers.
