Medical Acupuncture: Modern Science, No “Woo Woo”

 

AND

 

Why an Integrative Approach to IVDD and Spinal Cord Injury Should Be the Norm

 

Lecture will count for 2 CE hours for NYS (approved by NYSVMS)

 

By the end of this session participants will be able to:

1.  Identify the effects of acupuncture on the central, peripheral, and autonomic nervous systems.

2.  Describe the effects of acupuncture on muscles and fascia.

3.  List conditions for which acupuncture has demonstrated evidence of benefit through systematic reviews or meta-analyses

AND

1.  Differentiate between primary and secondary spinal cord injury.

2.  Identify the reasons for the shift from “cut to cure” to “protect to cure” for patients with IVDD and/or SCI.

3.  Describe the mechanisms of action of acupuncture, photomedicine, massage, and botanical approaches (including cannabis) insofar as neuroprotection, analgesia, and / or functional restoration.
